New T Appliance
The "T-appliance" was introduced in 1985 as a multifunctional activator.
The device enabled expansion of the upper dental arch independently from the lower dental arch, as well as step-wise sagittal activation of the mandibular portion, asymmetrically if necessary. Of course a high pull headgear could be placed as accessory via "buccal tubes".
In the years since the introduction, the T-appliance has become one of the most utilised activators in the Netherlands. After 15 years of faithfull service, it was time for a facelift, while maintaining the original concept.
The "New T-appliance" enables you to:
- Expand the upper dental arch independently from the lower dental arch up to aprox. 5 mm by means of a transverse screw.
- Activate the manibular portion sagittally up to aprox. 9 mm by means of 2 screws in the lingual wings.
- The construction of the device is such that it is possible to operate asymmetrically, for example in order to correct midline deviation.
- The stability will not suffer from this and the susceptibility to breaking is minimal (see also the pictures on the reverse side).
Requirements for making the New T.appliance:
- Cast upper- and lower jaw, a construction bite, height aproximately 5 mm.
