EVAA Appliance
An EVAA is an activator that:
- Can only be used in combination with fixed appliances in upper and/or lower jaw.
- Does not interfere with the fixed appliance.
- Is secured by headgear tubes on the first upper molars.
An EVAA is applicable in cases where:
- Dental as well as skeletal changes are desired.
- A bite rise is desired in connection with the reversed sagital overbite of one or more elements.
Advantages of the EVAA are:
- Shorter duration of treatment: functional and dental therapy coincide.
- No class II traction is necessary in order to improve the oclusion and relation.
- No additional oral traction is necessary in order to improve the occlusion and relation.
- Thoroughly secures the upper molars.
- Allows quick intra-maxilliar movement of dental elements because of the absence of occlusal interference.
- Saggital control of the lower front.
Restriction:
- The EVAA does not allow transversal movement of the upper molars.
Construction:
- After placement of the straps, tubes and brackets, imprints of the upper and lower jaw are taken and a constructionbite is manufactured.
- Next the bowes are placed.
- The imprints and the construction bite are sent to the laboratory, where the technician manufactures the EVAA.
